FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does domain age affect rankings?
Hardly, on its own. Google says age isn't a ranking factor. Older sites often rank well because of what they've built up over the years: links, content and people searching for the brand. An old, empty site ranks below a new, useful one.
Where does this data come from?
From RDAP, which replaced WHOIS. The lookup goes straight to the registry that holds the domain, with no other data source in between.
Why does a domain show no registration data?
Some country domains don't publish RDAP records, and some registries hide the dates. When that happens we say so on that row instead of guessing. The other domains in your list still show results.
Is the age the same as when the site launched?
No. It's when the domain was first registered. A domain can sit unused for years, or change owners and start from scratch. Check what it ranks for on Google before you decide anything.
